What could cause managers to feel threatened when a team member chooses to upskill?
Sometimes it’s not a feeling of threat, but I think some people just do not express themselves well around progress or competition
Such managers are just greedy, incompetent, and lazy. They believe they should always be and have the best, but they are not willing to put in the hours to develop themselves.
Some years back, I actually worked with a manager who discouraged team members from enrolling for courses; in her opinion, YouTube was enough, hahaha
These cases are common when you have a manager who does not work on themselves.
When you have a manager who never thinks of upgrading their skills to become better or even going back to school, that is what happens.
I have never understood why most managers do this. It’s so frustrating
