I feel, whenever a job is advertised, there should also be the salary quoted in the advert to save time for both the job seeker and the employer.
Though I have seen some employers who hide the salary so that they let you quote, and I think in the process gauge you and decide if they will pay you market rate, what you are asking for, or below the market rate.
